Risk, Sacrifice, and Success
In their combined half century of government service, Col. John Gioia, USAF
(ret.) and Maj. Gen. Jack Robbins, USAF (ret.) had seen dozens of high-profile,
high-risk government programs fail. In these failures, they saw an opportunity.
In 1980, Gioia used all of his financial resources to start the company, even
mortgaging his house to make payroll. Yet, the greatest risk of this endeavor
was the fact that project management as an industry simply did not exist. With

GM's 24 product lines.
