Throughout the federal government, Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are continuing to grow in popularity not because they are the latest trend but because they provide real value to an organization. The General Accounting Office (GAO), in the October 2000, “Managing For Results: Performance Agreements” report, identifies five emerging benefits of the use of performance agreements by the Veterans Health Administration, Department of Transportation, and the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
