Heading to RIO:
Records and Information Optimization Program Helps Organization Avoid Surprises
According to the META Group, senior
executives and legal counsel are putting
greater and greater demands on the
management of records and information.1
META Group Analyst John Brand stressed
that it is critical for organizations to examine
their records management requirements
before high costs or harmful events
occur. He wrote, “If an event occurs that
highlights the absence of sound records
management—such as when an organization
is called on to produce important
records and cannot produce them, or
even worse, if the organization tells the
court they do not exist and the documents
turn up later—the adverse effects can
include fines, penalties, poor shareholder
relations, shattered public image, and
lawsuits.”2
