Robbins-Gioia Addresses Outsourcing Marketplace

Program Management Consulting Firm Releases New Outsourcing and Vendor Management Solution

March 24, 2003, Alexandria, VA - Robbins-Gioia LLC, the leading provider of program management solutions, today announced the release of a new packaged offering to improve the performance of outsourcing for both government and commercial clients.

The offering consists of a suite of tools, processes, and expertise that apply program management discipline to selecting the right vendor, creating an appropriate management structure, crafting and managing a contract that includes performance standards, and managing the outsourcer on an ongoing basis. Robbins-Gioia developed the offering after seeing many of their clients, in both the government and commercial sectors, struggle with the often complex and overwhelming task of managing a major technology or business process outsourcing endeavor. According to Eric Gioia, Robbins-Gioia executive vice president, "Too often, clients don't have the human resources and in-house skills to really focus on managing those relationships, and when you don't manage your outsourcer, you never reap the benefits you sought in the first place."

As more and more organizations seek to outsource non-core functions, and as the full service consulting and outsourcing markets continue to consolidate, the management of these strategic efforts becomes more and more essential. According to Anna Danilenko, who covers the outsourcing market for International Data Corporation (IDC), there is a real need for a program management approach in this marketplace. Many outsourcers bundle program management with the outsourcing engagement, but Gioia advises against this.
