Robbins-Gioia Named Finalist in 2009 HR Leadership Awards of Greater Washington
June 3, 2009, Alexandria, VA—Robbins-Gioia, LLC, the leading provider of program management (PM) consulting solutions, announced today that it has been named a finalist in the Innovation category for the 2009 Leadership Awards of Greater Washington.
Established in 2001 by Marymount University and local business leaders, the HR Leadership Awards of Greater Washington recognize HR professionals who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership in addressing a critical business issue, challenge, or opportunity and, in doing so, have enhanced their organization’s efficiency, performance, cost management, or profitability. The Awards program was created to promote and enhance human resource excellence, ensure the advancement and continuity of the profession, and fund scholarships for those seeking to advance their careers through continuing education in the field.
The Robbins-Gioia HR leadership team, led by Charlene Chesley, Robbins-Gioia vice president of HR and administration, was selected as a finalist in the Innovation category. The team, which includes Lisa Keyes, director, HR and administration, and Cari Bohley, director, R-G University, has worked successfully to deliver a ready workforce that aligns and advances Robbins-Gioia’s strategic initiatives. Initially, the team evaluated Robbins-Gioia’s current HR programs for their effectiveness in preparing a ready workforce. From this analysis, the team developed an integrated approach to talent management including every stage of the employment life cycle: talent reviews, succession planning, cascading goal setting, one-on-one manager coaching, continual manager education, dedicated career counselors, defined career paths with resource guides, a strategically aligned and award-winning (Corporate University Xchange, 2006) corporate university, an intensive leadership development program, and detailed workforce planning and acquisition strategies.
“My vision for the role of HR at R-G is to deliver a ready workforce. This means targeting every stage of the employment life cycle to ensure we can place the right person in the right position at the right time,” said Charlene Chesley. “HR’s job doesn’t end once an employee accepts an offer. We’re committed to continually developing our talented people and providing benefits and programs to help them have an enjoyable and rewarding work/life balance.”
“Charlene and her team are driving value-added change in all areas through human capital initiatives that promote and reinforce Robbins-Gioia’s strategic business objectives,” said Michael Sledge, Robbins-Gioia president and chief operating officer. “Their energy and passion for innovation—to make each associate’s Robbins-Gioia experience one of meaningful personal and professional growth—are tremendous assets to our company.”
